We like to hide little hidden references in Club Penguin all the time. Sometimes they are really obvious, like those two puffles at the top of the stage that are like those famous actors masks.

But sometimes, there are hidden things. If you’re a ninja, you’ve been able to see this lantern in the catalog:

The price of the lantern is 575. Do any of you know about the Japanese poems called haiku? The Sensei almost always speaks in haikus. The rule with a haiku is that it’s a three-line poem; the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables. In other words: 5-7-5.
 
Isn’t that cool? Or do we just have too much time on our hands sometimes?

Happy New Year! We wanted to thank you for all of the creativity, imagination, ideas, and feedback you shared in 2008 — we know that 2009 will even be better!! 

There’s been a lot of excitement about the results of Coins For Change and I wanted to give you a quick update about it and a breakdown of how the money will be donated.

Kids without parents or who are hurt by war

• Partners in the Horn of Africa will receive $30,000 
• War Child will receive $340,000

Kids who are sick

• Partners in Health will receive $300,000

Kids who are poor and cannot go to school

• Free the Children will receive $330,000

The Kids Helping Kids section of the website has been updated with more details on the results of Coins For Change including info about how the charitable organizations will help kids around the world because of your generosity. 

Your generosity over the holiday season has been truly inspiring and encouraging! 

In other news: Congratulations to the igloo decorating contest winners – You can check them out in today’s newspaper.

Hi everyone! Screenhog here.

There are some questions after Saturday’s blog post about the Treasure Book update. New Club Penguin toys will be available in the next couple of weeks – and those new toys have codes that will access the updated book. But if you have a toy from the first wave of toys (like the Santa, Elf, Rockhopper, Shadow Guy, etc.) your code will get you into the first Treasure Book. Sorry for any confusion! 

We hope you’re enjoying the Christmas Party. The team put a lot of effort into decorating the rooms so hopefully you’re finding some fun surprises as you explore.

The new mission will be ready December 29th, and I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s pretty unique because the PSA will be depending on you more than ever. Here’s a sneak peek:

vaction!!! updates

Hi!!! POTC13 here… I am going to Tampa right now I am in Highaleha (i kno) it is 12:50 here (est.). I will be gone all weekend and I took some pix at 9:00 EST. I will post them ummm…  I will post the as soon as I get to the hotel… I am in the car and no internet (there is 3 but they locked) L this song is playing (don’t impress me much I will post a Jonas version)

it is now ummm looking at tama oh…. it is 5:57 i’m wrighing in my note book we JUST left mcdonals (I kno) my momwont let me use my laptop .… battery life.… yeah so all of my updates are in a commet (ipod) or note books all the time is going to be on my tamas time *tamagochi* I am bored to bad I wont go to Disney L but it will be fun I am going to a wedding it’s getting dark and i’m traving by car (I live in fl) so no light no time … unless I  use the dvd player ! more l8ter bye!!

i was not paying attention to my hits so we missed a 10,000 hits party I have 16,*** (i don’t know exactly) hits and when i see 20,*** (i don’t care how many) hits we will have a party!!

Coins for change

Coins for Change 2008

Waddle around and make a difference

 

Coins For Change gives kids who play Club Penguin a chance to donate their virtual coins to make a difference in the real world.

 

From December 12 – 22, kids can click on a donation booth in Club Penguin, choose a cause, and donate their virtual coins. On December 25th, Club Penguin will count up the votes, and New Horizon Foundation (created by the founders of Club Penguin) will make a $1 million donation, split between the causes, according to how the kids vote.

 

Kids can choose these causes:

 

KIDS WITHOUT PARENTS AND KIDS WHO HAVE BEEN HURT BY WAR

In partnership with Partners in the Horn of Africa, the donation will help to offer education, play therapy, and structured activities for kids who have been orphaned by AIDS in Ethiopia.

 

In partnership with War Child, the donation will also help kids who have been affected by war by supporting education, children’s rights efforts, and poverty reduction in Georgia, Afghanistan and Northern Uganda.

 

KIDS WHO ARE SICK

In partnership with Partners in Health, the donation will help children in some of the world’s poorest communities to receive the medical care they need in Haiti and Rwanda.

 

KIDS WHO ARE POOR AND WHO CAN’T GO TO SCHOOL

In partnership with Free the Children, the donation will help communities to build schools and provide education to impoverished kids around the world in India, Ecuador and rural China.
